FriYAY Favs: Makeup Essentials
Happpppy Friday! So if you follow me on Snapchat you know a few weeks ago I lost my whole makeup bag (among other things, long story) and was pretty bent out of shape about it. My hubs thought I was overreacting but normally I don’t go out and just re-purchase my whole set of makeup and let’s just say it was a bummer.
That being said, replacing the items gave me a whole new appreciation for my essentials. Here’s what I recommend, in the order I apply:
[thefeedproducts style=’four’]
Moisturizer:
Either one of these are great:
1. CeraVe Moisturizing Facial Lotion (SPF 15)– Love the consistency and SPF is a must!
2. Aesop Sage & Zinc Facial Hydrating Cream (SPF 15)– Obsessssssed with the smell and my skin feels better during the day when I have it on, new favorite for sure!
Foundation
Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation (also at SEPHORA): This is my ultimate favorite, I’ve tried a few that were either too drying or too oily and this stuff has passed the test. I discovered it right before our wedding in 2013 and have been obsessed ever since.
Concealer
Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer: This is great for under the eyes and just covering areas that need a little more help.
Loose Powder
Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (also at SEPHORA): I love the lightweight feel and staying power of this formula, I just dust on lightly- particularly on my T zone area after concealer.
Blush
Nars Orgasm (also at SEPHORA): The light peach color allows me to skip the bronzer, not too overbearing and I just apply on the apple of my cheeks and a little on the sides of my forehead.
Highlighter
Benefit Watt’s Up! I always use this on my cheekbones, down my nose and in the corner of my eyes (to pretend I’m well rested).
Eyebrow Powder
Anastasia Beverly Hills Duo Brow Powder and Brush: Love love love- my eyebrows struggle if I don’t fill them in, this may be my favorite item in my whole bag.
Mascara
L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara: I only wear mascara when I’m going out at night- during the day I wear sunglasses so often and mascara is usually more of a pain to get off before washing my face, so I do without it when I can.
There you have it, my daily basics! I’m also planning to post a video version of these products on Snapchat (username: thriftsnthreads) to give you a better idea of what they look like, so make sure to follow along and have an amazing weekend!
