Tips on Keeping Your Makeup Bag Clutter-Free
We’ve all been there before...searching through your makeup bag, trying to find your eyebrow pencil in the midst of what feels like a hundred other products. While you’re frantically trying to get ready, you can’t seem to find that one thing you’ve been searching for. I know this has happened to me many times and recently, it’s gotten to the point where I had no other option than to start over and simplify my bag. While reorganizing, I thought of a few rules to live by when it comes to keeping your makeup bag clean and organized.
TIP: ONLY KEEP ESSENTIALS
My must-have products in my makeup bag consist of the essentials. These are holy grail products to me because I can use them on-the-go and they make me look awake and put together in under three minutes. Recently I’ve been using The Daily Edited Clear Travel Case to store all of my essentials and I love it because it is big enough to hold all of my daily products but it is also great for on-the-go use and can fit in my bag. This bag is a fun color and has clear sides that make me keep my bag organized. To keep your bag organized, decide what products are essential to you and keep those in your kit! Some of my makeup essentials include; Tarte Clay Stick Foundation, HOURGLASS Arch Brow pencil, Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara.
TIP: IF YOU DON’T WEAR IT, CLEAN IT OUT
This is a rule that I live by when it comes to my closet and recently I have started to use it while cleaning out my makeup and skincare products. We’re all guilty of having an extremely old makeup product in our bag that should’ve been thrown away months ago, so while cleaning out your bag, think to yourself: “If I haven’t used this product in the past month, it does not belong in my bag.” This method is a quick fix to declutter your bag, and also an excuse to repurchase new products 🙂
TIP: USE MULTIPURPOSE PRODUCTS
When it comes to staying clutter-free, I love to use products that have more than one use. For example, I love to use my Hoola Bronzer as an eyeshadow and my Becca Cosmetics Highlight Topaz as a pop in my inner corner. Have dual-use products in my bag clears up space and keeps my bag looking clean.
TIP: CLEAN OUT ALL EXPIRED PRODUCTS
Going along with the last tip, you should get rid of all expired products that have been sitting at the bottom of your bag. Products like mascara and eyeliner should be replaced every three-four months while foundations and concealers can last you up to a year. Get rid of those expired products and watch as your makeup bag is cleaner and less cluttered.
TIP: INVEST IN A QUALITY MAKEUP BAG
While balancing traveling and constantly being on-the-go, one of my favorite tips is to invest in a bag that is dependent and will last. Recently, I have been traveling with The Daily Edited Travel Case and Clear Travel Case. I love these two bags because I can utilize both bags to fit all of my extra products in and the clear case is perfect to throw in my purse to keep my touch-up products organized! These bags are the perfect color and have my initials on them, making them so fun and personalized. Also, they make the perfect gift!!
