Beauty Supplements: Why They’re Worth the Try
I always make an effort to eat healthy because I want to get my vitamins from food first, but even so I have made it a habit to include beauty supplements as part of my morning routine. Probiotics are also essential to my routine and I believe help keep my skin balanced. Every morning I take the Skin Heroes Pre + Probiotic Clear Skin Supplement and I also take a mix of the vitamins I’ve listed below. There’s supplements for hair, skin and nails and I’ve tried many to narrow down to my favorites. Hope it helps you navigate which supplements are best for you!
In hair supplements, there are three vital ingredients to look out for: Vitamin B (Biotin), Vitamin C, and Keratin. Biotin is a vitamin that helps modify certain nutrients into energy, which supports healthy hair and nails. Vitamin C is a primary nutrient in the production of collagen, the protein which contributes to the glow and strengthening of your hair, skin and nails. Keratin is a component of a protein that helps nourish your hair.
I love taking the Ouai Hair Thinning Vitamins to give my hair some extra love. These vitamins are completely customizable to your hair type, so you can pick the one that is best suitable for your hair. They have supplements for dry hair, an oily scalp, thinning hair and everything in between! I love these vitamins, but I also like to switch it up and use my HUM Hair Sweet Hair Vitamins. These gummies are one of my faves because they're vegan, and I can totally see a difference in the length of my hair! Not to mention, they taste delicious!
Another supplement that I swear by is the Moon Juice Super Hair. This supplement has allowed my hair to grow thicker and stronger due to its ability to target stress and aid in nutritional deficiencies. It helps protect your mind and body from signs and effects of stress which is one of the leading causes of hair loss. And last but not least, the Olly Lustrous Hair vitamins is a must have in my beauty cabinet. This supplement has allowed my hair to grow quicker than usual, where I've noticed that I go in for a haircut sooner than usual -- it's just the best!
Next up is skin! I know I can speak for everyone when I say we all want glowing and gorgeous skin, but did you know that it begins on the inside? Your body naturally produces collagen but at the age of 25, your collagen levels start to decline. But don’t stress! Even though there is no magical way to stop aging, you can help your body maintain and build collagen by taking supplements that contain it. My favorite, and the one I've been using more recently is the Vital Proteins Beauty Boost Collagen which helps the body produce collagen and is the building block for supporting outside features as well as making you feel good on the inside.
One of my favorite supplements that gives my skin a natural glow and helps keep it hydrated is the Hum Sweet Glow Vitamin. This supplement contains Vitamin E which improves skin hydration, and Vitamin C which increases the amount of collagen the body produces to help minimize fine lines and wrinkles. Recently, I’ve found myself to love the outcome of my skin when taking the Dr. Barbara Sturm Skin Food Supplement. When using her product, I found my skin to be more firm, and my fine lines and wrinkles were hardly noticeable -- I highly recommend!
I love getting my nails done often, but I noticed that the more I went, the unhealthier my nails were becoming. I couldn't bare the thought of skipping my nail days (first world problems, I know), so I decided to take some supplements for them! I've noticed such a difference while taking the Olly Undeniable Beauty Multivitamin. This multivitamin helps with hair, skin and nails so not only does it help with my nails, but every other area too! Lastly, another supplement that has shown a difference in my nails is the Hum Killer Nails. This vitamin has allowed my nails to grow back longer and thicker which has decreased the cause of splitting nails and breakage!
