4 Clean Beauty Myths Explained
I remember when switching over to clean skincare and I spent a lot of time researching and reading about different skincare myths and if they were true or not. Does it really work? Is it going to cost more? Where can I even purchase clean beauty products? As the questions kept piling up, I decided to do some heavy research, and even have a little trial and error to see if clean beauty really had a significance to its name. Below you'll find four common clean beauty myths explained, and why you shouldn't be afraid to try it out!
Myth #1: It's too expensive.
Truth: There are many brands that sell affordable clean makeup and skincare, and you can find them at your local drugstore or Target. Versed, Pacifica, and Honest Beauty are among the many clean beauty brands sold at Target. The average price of a product from these brands range from $7-$20! So you definitely have options that will fit your budget. 🙂 Ps. if you don't mind splurging a little more, W3LL PEOPLE is a great brand from Target as well!
Myth #2: It's not as effective.
Truth: Clean beauty is as effective, if not more than its traditional counterparts, and natural makeup doesn't have to mean you always have a "no makeup, makeup look!" Many clean beauty products include skincare to help keep your skin in good condition even after long hours of wearing a full face of makeup! I love using the Un Cover-Up foundation from RMS! I use shade 33, and it delivers a flawless, airbrushed finish, and doesn't feel heavy on my skin which I love!
Myth #3: It's clean as long as it's labeled as 'clean'.
Truth: Just because the product doesn't have any sulfates or parabens, doesn't make it clean. The FDA doesn't have a definition of the term "organic" or "natural", meaning there's no actual accountability/standards behind a beauty product actually being clean. There is plenty of information out there that the medical community puts out, so definitely do some research before buying any beauty products that claims to be clean! Myth #4: There aren't enough shades/it's not pigmented enough.
Truth: There's a misconception that clean beauty brands only carry neutral-toned makeup, when in fact, they carry all kinds! Even bold colors. And just because it's natural, doesn't mean it won't deliver in color. "Pigment" refers to the vibrancy of a color and clean beauty brands have created a wide range of colors from bold for a fun night out or neutrals for a casual day in the office!
